UK Says Trump’s 10% Tariffs Can Be Reduced in US Trade Deal - BLOOMBERG
By Julian Harris, Lucy White, and Francine Lacqua
UK Trade Secretary Jonathan Reynolds expressed confidence in reducing the new 10% tariff imposed on the country’s exports by Donald Trump, putting pressure on British officials locked in talks with the White House over a deal to bring the two economies closer.
While the UK didn’t immediately retaliate to the US president’s measures, Reynolds told the House of Commons on Thursday that he would consult businesses on whether it should resort to further tariffs on US goods if a deal fell through. For now though, he said he’s continuing his dialog with US counterparts.
